Currently, we're running the FOSDEM VideoBox 2.5 with the simplified setup (see [1] for the ansible recipes, [2] for an overview of the box).
How to stream a talk
Box setup
- Connect the video-box HDMI loop out to the projector
- point the projector properly to the screen
- Connect the USB camera to the USB host port on the videobox
- Connect the microphone receiver to XLR port IN2 of the videobox
- connect the power of the microphone receiver to one of the power ports of the box
- connect ethernet port to the videobox
- Power-on the videobox
Speaker setup
- Connect the speaker's laptop to the HDMI IN of the video-box
- Make sure you can see the preview of the speaker's screen on the projector and on the display of the videobox
- Put the lapel mic on the speaker
- Power on the mic transmitter and mic receivers and make sure they've linked
- Check at https://video-box-ip/vocto.php if you can see things correctly and that the audio level is correct
- The IP is visible on the display of the box
Before starting the talk
- The following can be also done remotely by either krokodilerian or Slackware
- Enable recording on the box (systemctl start video-recorder)
- Start pushing to streamer (in tmux, bash /opt/scripts/push-yt.sh RTMPURL)
During the talk
- Monitor the stream if everything is ok
=== After the talk
- Recording/streaming part
- Stop streaming and recording
- Copy off the recording from the box
- As noted, krokodilerian or Slackware can do that remotely
- Power-off the microphone receiver and transmitter
- Connect the microphone transmitter to charge
